Tires & Wheel Service — Since 1999

Wayne's Auto Repair has been the central Ohio tire shop for drivers since 1999. Whether you need new tires, a wheel alignment, a suspension fix, or your steering checked out, our ASE-certified technicians handle the full range of tires and under-the-vehicle service — with up-front pricing and same-day service when we can. Searching for tires near you? You've found the right shop.

We cover the full tires-and-wheels picture in-house: tire sales and installation across major brands, 4-wheel alignment, tire balancing, tire rotation, TPMS sensor service, suspension repair (struts, shocks, control arms, ball joints, bushings), and steering service (tie rods, rack-and-pinion, power-steering issues). Most ride-quality, handling, and uneven-wear complaints trace back to one of these areas — we'll diagnose what's actually going on and walk you through the options before any work begins.

Find Wayne's at three convenient locations across central Ohio: Columbus, Westerville, and Powell. All three shops are part of the Alpha Automotive family — a network of trusted Ohio repair shops backed by decades of community service.

Signs You Need Tire or Wheel Service

Tires, alignment, suspension, and steering all work together — and when something's off in one, the others wear out faster. Catching it early saves money and tire life. Bring it in if you notice any of these:

  • The car pulls to one side when driving straight
  • Steering wheel is off-center when going straight, or vibrates at highway speeds
  • Uneven tire wear — one edge wearing faster than the other, or cupped/feathered patterns
  • Tires losing air pressure, or your TPMS warning light is on
  • Bouncing, floating, or excessive body roll over bumps and turns
  • Clunking, knocking, or squeaking from the suspension when driving
  • Steering feels loose, vague, or hard to turn at low speeds
  • Vibrations through the steering wheel, seat, or floor
  • Wheels making noise when turning (clicking, popping, grinding)
  • It's been more than 5,000 to 7,500 miles since your last tire rotation
  • Tires are visibly worn, cracked, or low on tread (use a penny — if you can see all of Lincoln's head, you're below 2/32")

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I know I need tire or wheel service?

The most common signs are uneven tire wear, the car pulling to one side, steering-wheel vibration, a steering wheel that's off-center, loose or noisy suspension, or TPMS warning lights. Any of those — bring it in for an inspection. Most ride-quality and handling complaints trace back to one of four causes: tires, alignment, suspension, or steering.

How often should I rotate my tires?

Most manufacturers recommend rotating tires every 5,000 to 7,500 miles — often the same interval as your oil change, which makes it easy to remember. Rotation evens out wear across all four tires and extends their useful life. We rotate tires for free with most services.

How often should I get a wheel alignment?

Most vehicles benefit from a wheel alignment every year or 12,000 to 15,000 miles, plus any time you install new tires, hit a major pothole, or notice symptoms like pulling, uneven wear, or a crooked steering wheel. Proper alignment protects your tires and improves fuel economy.

How do I know I need new tires?

The classic penny test: put a penny upside-down in your tread groove. If you can see all of Lincoln's head, your tread is at 2/32" or less — time for new tires. Also look for visible cracks in the sidewall, bulges, or cords showing through. Uneven wear patterns can mean tires AND alignment work; we'll diagnose both.

Why is my car pulling to one side?

The most common causes are an alignment issue, uneven tire pressure between sides, uneven tire wear, or a problem in the suspension or brake system. We diagnose all of those in one inspection — pulling is usually one of the easier symptoms to track down.

How do I know my suspension or steering needs service?

Clunking or knocking sounds over bumps, excessive bouncing or body roll, steering that feels loose or hard to turn, vibrations at highway speeds, or noises when turning are all signs that something in the suspension or steering system needs attention. These components also affect tire wear — ignoring them costs you in tires later.

Do you have any tire specials?

Yes. Our standing tire offer is Buy 3, Get 1 FREE on select Hercules Tires — available for installed service only with road hazard warranty and alignment. Available for most cars and light trucks; some restrictions apply. Not valid with any other discount or offer. Ask us when you check in and we'll walk you through the eligible tire options.

How long does tire and wheel service take?

Tire installation with alignment typically takes 1 to 2 hours. A wheel alignment alone is about 1 hour. Suspension work (struts, shocks, control arms) usually runs 2 to 4 hours depending on the vehicle. Steering repairs depend on the diagnosis. We'll give you a clear time estimate up-front when we quote the work.

Do I need an appointment for tire or wheel service?

Appointments help us schedule installation and alignment time efficiently — request one online or call the shop nearest you. Tire and alignment work tends to fill up fast in spring and fall, so book early when you can.
